My red wooden regulation car set for the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby was to compete with other Cub Scouts with same car types. They would race down a small slope track for a trophy. Lead weights in the front, wires connecting the wheels, different style bodies, and weight differentials meant disqualification. Mine was the only one built according to the rules.
I lost the race, but kept the car. The race was between cheaters and won by such. The car was my trophy for fair play and honesty because such virtues stand apart.
