Blue Eyes

He’s done it again.

Blood dribbles from a slack mouth. Eyes duller than glass marbles blink out of sync.

“That hurt.”

“It was supposed to.”

“Succeeded then.”

“For the moment. Get up.”

He lurches, and straightens wiping blood from his chin.

“You’re a bastard.”

“A technicality.”

“This was a bad idea.”

“Indeed, if I could speak before you cast that spell I’d have told you so.”

The blue eyes are clear now but shimmer with pain, “Right. I’ll try to undo it.”

“Don’t bother.”

“What?”

“Maybe this way I won’t have to buck you off to get your attention.”
