“Are you lonely?” he asked, his eyes meeting the woman’s, but only for a second. She chose to glance at her feet. “… Yes.” Erid’s face fell, for Alexandra’s voice had lost its singsong quality. He stepped towards her, wanting to free the air from the darkness that had emerged between them. “Let me change that,” he whispered. His thumb traced her lower lip. Alexandra’s breath was stuck in the back of her throat. “I …, I can’t. Time is too cruel. I have the curse of forever and those I love … a moment.” My hand cupped her chin. “Try. For Erid.”
