I sat in the garden. Our garden. Our sanctuary. Lovingly created by us over the course of a lifetime. A haven where so many promises were made.
I’ll never leave you.
You’ll never be alone.
I’ll take care of you.
You’ll never have to worry.
I clung to those promises. I believed every word. They kept me safe, an invisible shield that protected me from the harsh realities of the world.
But no more. It seemed ironic that you should leave me where so many promises were made. The place where you breathed your last and broke them all.
What a powerful piece. Nicely done
