At last, after what felt like the longest journey, she was home. She hadn’t been back here for years and the realization of what she’d done was beginning to dawn on her. She feared her mother would still be mad about how she’d left; about the choice she’d made. The taxi came to a stop and she sat, frozen. Her heart was thundering inside her; the cab driver could probably feel the vibrations.
