Jake entered the dimly lit and smoke-filled establishment. His eyes roamed about until, finally, his gaze found rest at the bar.

There she was. Blonde, beautiful and full bodied. The color of bronze as if kissed by the sun. He was frozen in place. His pulse pounded and his heart raced. A sudden thirst left his mouth dry.

Willing his feet to move he headed toward her, but It was another man’s hand now on his prize. The breath Jake was holding came out in a whoosh of disappointment. It was the bitter end of what could have been.
