While they waited for her turn to come up on the karaoke, she gulped down her wine and told him how she felt. How she’d always dreamt about him; how they should go shopping because she knew exactly the clothes that would look best on him; how good they’d be together. Well, this was a shock. Had he somehow invited this? He was still working out how best to respond when her turn to sing came up. But she didn’t sing. She didn’t even try. She just stood there, staring up at the words, line after line after line.
