“A banana peel will get that out.”
Doe leaned against the doorway, staring over the rug in the living room, and out the window. Her grandmother spent most of the morning vacuuming. Making sure the plush carpet looked new. It was the one thing she loved most.
Doe wondered what that felt like.
“Did you hear me, dear? About the banana?”
“I did,” Doe said.
“Rub the inside of the peel against the stain. Then rinse with cold water. It should come right out,” her grandmother said.
“How does a girl your age get grass stains on her knees anyway?”
