Tomorrow Never Comes

The rain pours. I peek inside the house and Mum is busy in the kitchen. I step out with my “waterproof” school bag and not-so-waterproof school uniform without an umbrella or rain jacket. I get drenched walking to school. I love the chill that spreads inside me when I sit by the open window in my classroom feeling the cold breeze. Today the rain does not stop at all. I am drenched again coming home and Mum shouts at me yet again! “Tomorrow,” I say. “I will remember Mom.” She doesn’t know tomorrow never comes.
