Broken Perfection

Drip.
The echoes get quieter.
Drip.
Her heartbeat becomes a little tighter.
Drip.
Her pale skin grows brighter.

She wanted to laugh because she had defeated them,
she had silenced them,
and she had won.

All those years they tried to control her, to intimidate her,
but she had won.
“The only way to get rid of us is by the blade.”

And she had dug deep …
deep enough until the voices in her head had been silenced … at last.
Drip.

  1. The words you write have so much agony.
I see that you write to effect emotion.
Just be careful “words have power”
I believe no one should take their life. This not the way, there are people who can help. No one needs to die. If anyone feels this way please call a Hot line. There is a way to ease the pain.

    1. Thank you for your comments. With this piece I wanted to capture an aspect of mental illness, where you lose sight of the real world and go into your own “real world”. I titled it Broken Perfection because you may look at someone and think that their life is perfect.. Yet they suffer in their own silence..
But there is a way out of it and no one should have to battle their demons alone..

  2. Hi Lynda. This piece is so powerful, and really really resonates with me. I suffer from voices, unfortunate offshoot of a diagnosis of schizophrenia. Most of the time they’re just an annoying distraction but other times I want to bang my head against a wall to make them shut up! This piece really conveys the loathing they can provoke. Thanks for sharing, I’ve followed you, and am just gonna check out some more of your posts!

    1. Hi Alex, I’m sorry that this is a battle you have to face and a struggle that you’ve had to go through. That it resonates with you is testament to the power of words. Be encouraged that you are more than your situation 🙂

      1. Thank you 🙂 that means a lot. I’m currently trying to turn all of my experiences into a self help book.. so I can use my experiences to help others. The power of words is massive. Take care.
