Twenty-two years, Christmases and anniversaries alike. Two children. Two spaniels, five hamsters and a rabbit (at various times). One miscarriage. Around 50 family holidays, maybe more. Collectively, 84 birthdays, each one celebrated with love. Hundreds of business trips but how many with her, I’ll never know. Like I don’t really know how many months they were together before I found out. Two solicitors so that he can start over with 1 new wife and 1 new child. And just another 48 hours before he does. In the end, all it comes down to is numbers.
