Mirror, Mirror

As it turns out, learning to be my own best friend is proving to be far less arduous than I had imagined. Though nothing in my repertoire is silhouetted by ease, making a commitment to learn to caress myself with the gentility of friendship is substantially easier than declaring the woman in the mirror my forever enemy.

Who knew?

  1. “…declaring the woman in the mirror my forever enemy”. Oh, you put into words what I feel almost every time I have the courage to look in the mirror. BUT WAIT! Just this morning I shyly chose to befriend that woman in the mirror and posted the following quote on that mirror so it would be superimposed on my reflection : “Nourishing yourself in a way that helps you blossom in the direction you want to go is attainable, and you are worth the effort.” -Deborah Day. Thanks for sharing your vulnerability and strength Briana.

    1. Thank you for your always kind and pensive reflection. Your willingness to change, shift perspective and cultivate love within yourself is something I respect deeply about you Karlyn. I am comforted by knowing that my thoughts, struggles and journey through a tempestuous terrain, is not a path I travel alone. Though I would never wish hardship upon someone else, the solidarity is fortifying.
