By Piano girl
The image remains
Though faded
Tall, black, majestic
Old and upright
Eighty-eight keys in a row
Sitting on the bench
Beautiful patterns
Come into focus
Two-three-two-three
A perfect guide
For little hands
Learning to play
Roll knuckles up
Tap twice
Repeat
Roll knuckles down
Tap twice
Repeat
I dropped
My dolly
In the dirt
A love beginning
With simple melodies
Played on ivories
Prominently placed
In Grandma’s
Dining room
How I wish
I could play
One more time
Those simple melodies
For my Grandma
On her old piano
Piano girl is a wife, mom, pianist, and an elementary music teacher. Writing helps “calm her sometimes over-thinking brain.”
I can totally identify with these feelings as I had the same experience.

Very nice…it brought tears to my eyes. My gramma didn’t have a piano, but she was everything to me.
