From the moment I brought it home, my conscience had been killing me. I opened the door of the cage, believing that it would fly away. Bizarrely, it didn’t move from its perch. In fact, every time I extended my hand toward it, it drew back.
I pulled it forcefully by its wing and it struggled, clinging tightly. After a beat, I noticed it was squatting, and between its legs lay a small egg.
