All wise, all knowing, and all dead
Do you know what people said?
When they laid you in your bed?
So enchantingly?
Omniscient and all powerful
You could heave a bowerful
Roses stemmed and sorrowful
To the tossing wave.
Have you seen without a light?
Have you heard without a fright?
Have you felt without a bite?
Tripping fancy free?
This is what they said, my friend:
You should try a different blend [brand].

I loved the first line of this poem and enjoyed the rest of it very much. Thank you for sharing.

This is one of my ‘new’ Underdown poems, with apologies to Robert W. Chambers, author of “The King in Yellow,” one of whose original poems inspired me to write this one.
