When Tamsin Appleby said she was quitting, “As Our Days Turn” was the highest-rated daytime drama on American television, largely because of Tamsin. And she knew it.
Rumors of boardroom deals and network discomfort abounded. She was well aware the show would die and be forgotten without her. And she was happy to leave it that way.
Her instructions about her final scene were explicit: “Make it big, make it believable, and make it permanent.”
No-one ever found out who switched the blanks, but that last episode is seared upon the memories of the millions who watched the live broadcast.
The shot heard around the world…love it!
